Nick and Andrew compare the careers of Kevin James, Ryan Gosling, and Benedict Cumberbatch. Nick can’t help but reference KEY AND PEELE, Pete Holmes, SHERLOCK, and ATTACK ON TITAN… again. Geekiness ensues.

2013 in review
The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2013 annual report for this blog.
Here’s an excerpt:
The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 12,000 times in 2013. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 4 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.
Walter White (Bryan Cranston) Knows GODZILLA
Like the 1st GODZILLA Trailer?
Well, the second trailer confirms Bryan Cranston (Emmy winner from BREAKING BAD) is the star of the show…
Besides Godzilla!
This ain’t your 90’s GODZILLA. This shit is awesome.
Check out the Cranston-full trailer after the jump! Continue reading “Walter White (Bryan Cranston) Knows GODZILLA”
Podcast #2 – IN THE WAKE
Nick and Andrew discuss Tom Selleck’s moustache, the new Batman/Superman movie with Batfleck, SHERLOCK Series 3, and the incredible graphic novel THE WAKE. Among other geeky references and knowledge.
8 Impressions I Wish I Could Do (A List!)
Impressions are fun. But the only one I can do is Christian Bales’ Batman.
It requires yelling, but I nailed “WHERE IS HARVEY DENT?!?” and other great quotes like “Swear to Me!,” “I’m not wearing hockey pads!,”RACHEL!” and “I’m not the hero this city deserves, but I’m the hero Gotham needs.”
I learned the voice and the face (gotta have big lips protruding) from Pete Holmes’ Badman skits where he nails the Batman impression.
I realize the last one is a Commissioner Gordon played by the incredible actor, Gary Oldman. But it works with the rough Batman voice.
And then, everyone can do Borat and Daniel Plainview.
I’m also not terrible at Tom Hardy’s Bane impression. “I wondered what would break first… your soul… or your body!”
Anyway… I’m not writing to tell you what impression I can do, rather the 5 impressions I wish I could do.
A word of warning, it would be great to do a Christopher Walken impression, but that impression is so overused by comedians, so I have left it off the list.
It’s also a countdown. From my 8th favorite impression to my most favorite.
9. Arnold Schwarenegger
8. Heath Ledger’s Joker
Pete Holmes does the joker (at the end) AND the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman for Jay Mohr. Mohr has a few great impressions himself (including someone who will show up later on the list). Continue reading “8 Impressions I Wish I Could Do (A List!)”
GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Poster: ‘You’re Welcome’
Yesterday I shared the fantastic/incredible/amazing/invincible (will any comics geeks notice that Marvel reference?)Marvel Studios’ first GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY trailer.
Today, we have a poster.
And it is equally amazing/fantastic/invincible/incredible.
Check out the full poster after the jump! Continue reading “GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Poster: ‘You’re Welcome’”
Pete Holmes Gets Geeks: STREET FIGHTER Edition
Pete Holmes is there for all of us. All of us geeks.
He has his Badman sketches, his Ex-Men skits, and now a STREET FIGHTER 2 parody. After all, has anyone in my age group not played STREET FIGHTER 2: TURBO?
Of course not.
Pete Holmes does have “All the Games.”
Check out Pete Holmes’ conversation with Ryu after the jump!
True geekiness ahead!

Chris Pratt Leads the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY in this Fantastic Trailer!
I’ve been excited for GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY.
Marvel’s riskiest movie since THOR… looks absolurlty perfect with the levity the source material needs.
Never heard of Star Lord (Chris Pratt)? Or Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper)? Or Groot, the tree (Vin Diesel).
Meet them all now, courtesty of John C. Reilly’s Nova Corps commander (google Nova Corps; it’s like the Green Lanterns of the Marvel Universe).
Check out the awesome trailer after the jump!

Marvel has done it again! Continue reading “Chris Pratt Leads the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY in this Fantastic Trailer!”
Podcast #1 – Pilot
The first Breaking Geek Podcast is…. Now… 3…2…1…
Benedict Cumberbatch: Best Sesame St. Cameo Since Will Arnett
Sesame St. has really nailed it these past few years with great cameos and parodies meant for adults.
My favorite comedic actor, Will Arnett, once appeared as a magician, in reference to the underrated Emmy winning comedy, ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT.
It was hilarious. More hilarious to me than it was educational to that wide-eyed muppet and your child.
Since then, the show has had Mad Men parodies and Stephen Colbert appearances… all the while I became a Cumberbitch*.
And then this happened. Continue reading “Benedict Cumberbatch: Best Sesame St. Cameo Since Will Arnett”
New CAPTAIN AMERICA Posters 2!
Well, there are four posters.
But they are for CAPTAIN AMERICA 2… which actually carries no numeral, and they are sexy.
Check the rest out after the jump. Continue reading “New CAPTAIN AMERICA Posters 2!”
CAPT.(AIN AMERICA) is back! Trailer #2 for WINTER SOLDIER.
CAPTAIN AMERICA: WINTER SOLDIER keeps looking better and better.
We’ve watched 2 hulks smash on each other, men in iron suits fighting other robot men… or Extremis fire men. 2 super strong forces set on destroying and saving; whether it’s sticking to walls, fight with the power of sand, or shooting lasers out your eyes… we’ve seen all sorts of superhero rumbles.
But this is different. Like the first film in the franchise, CAPTAIN AMERICA is different. The first was a war movie, the 2nd is being described as a ‘thriller.’
It all looks good to me!
Watch the full 2 and a half minute trailer after the jump. Continue reading “CAPT.(AIN AMERICA) is back! Trailer #2 for WINTER SOLDIER.”
Pete Holme’s Favorite Sketches of 2013

2014 Movies to Geek Over
Now that 2013 is behind us, with Khan, Iron Man, and the Long Ranger down for the count, it is time to look forward to the movies to come in 2014!
First, an incredibly spooky trailer for the licensed version of PACIFIC RIM… GODZILLA! (From the very same Legendary Pictures as PACIFIC RIM… and HANGOVER… and DARK KNIGHT).
Is this the Godzilla I deserved but did not get in 1998? It sure looks creepy and realistic as hell. How do we defeat a Kaiju without Jagers? Continue reading “2014 Movies to Geek Over”
Holidays with the LONE RANGER and Simon Pegg
You know you’ve had a great holiday, when said day reminds you how horrifically underrated WORLD’S END and LONE RANGER are.
Yes, I spent time with family, which was sweeter than my mother’s fudge, but I also got stuff. And yes, I received WORLD’S END and LONE RANGER B-Rays for my holidays.
I must rant a bit…
First, though WORLD’S END feels most like a mash up of SHAUN OF THE DEAD and HOT FUZZ – the baddies are basically zombies in part of a conspiracy – it IS a master’s course for everything Edgar Wright has done previously. Continue reading “Holidays with the LONE RANGER and Simon Pegg”
Ron Burgundy Is Funny… Even With Dodge
Anyone else think that Will Ferrell should disappear into the role of Ron Burgundy forever?
Not that Will Ferrell isn’t hilarious, it’s that Ron Burgundy may be the funniest man on the planet.
ANCHORMAN 2: THE LEGEND CONTINUES wasn’t as good as the first (nothing new), but still packed to the brim with hilarity.
I’m not usually a company shill, but I’ve included all the hilarious Burgundy’isms below for your pleasure. It is worth it.
We are laughing!

AMAZING SPIDER-MAN Franchise Adds VENOM and SINISTER 6 Films!
My early suspicions were correct.
When the Lizard was locked up at the end of the first AMAZING SPIDER-MAN and multiple villains were confirmed for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 (Electro, Green Goblin, Rhino), I suspected that the franchise is headed toward THE SINISTER SIX! An Avengers style super-group of villains all working together to take out their common enemy, Spider-Man.
And there are plans for my favorite comic villain of all… VENOM!
Sony plans on extending their own Spider-Man centric movie universe similar to Marvel Studios and Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
The franchise would not only have AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 3 (release date June 10th, 2016) & 4, but also a SINISTER SIX movie as well as a solo adventure for VENOM.
Sony announced both plans today for the franchise, as hidden on a Electro website (http://www.electroarrives.com/) based on a clue left in the amazing AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 trailer.
Classic viral marketing, something we’ve seen a lot more since THE DARK KNIGHT’s excellent viral marketing campaign.

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 TRAILER! Goblins, Rhino, and Electro
With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility.
And Jesus, does AMAZING SPIDER-MAN promise a lot of power.
First, we get the thrill of the drop only experienced thus far in the games.
We see Electro, get to know Harry Osborne, learn that Peter Parker’s dad was protecting the world from Oscorps potential, see Norman in the hospital, see a glider, and if you look close enough, you will see Doc Ock’s arms in Oscorp’s ‘armory.’
Could it be we will see the Sinister Six by AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 3?
Will Gwen survive #2?
Check the trailer after the jump!

This Week With Pete! Xavier Makes Rogue an ‘Ex-Men’
Though only 2 episodes in… this week.. so far… THE PETE HOLMES SHOW has already aired multiple sketches worth sharing with you, my geek friends. As well as an interview with the master podcaster whose podcast inspired Pete’s, YOU MADE IT WEIRD.
If you’d rather pick and choose… then… you’re welcome!
First Pete Holmes returns as Xavier to fire the X-Men, Rogue.
“And I wish I could walk!”
If for some reason you have missed the other downsizing from X-Men to Ex-Men, click the corresponding links below.

Pete has mentioned on his podcast, that perhaps he has done too many Batman sketches. I think it’s time to give Xavier a rest… but only if Batman returns! (Tim Burton need not apply.)
Pete also got to talk to the man whose podcast has inspired him the most, King of the Podcasters, Marc Maron.

Ron Burgundy Interviews PFM
For those of you who have no tolerance for sports what-so-ever, who wants to tell me what PFM stands for?
That’s correct, Peyton Fucking Manning.
And what happens to PFM when you add a dash of Ron Burgundy?
Find out after the jump.
