It’s Clobbering Time! Latest FANTASTIC 4 Trailer & Poster Continue to Excite

Everyone dismissed 2015’s reboot of Fantastic Four (or FANT4STIC) before we saw any footage. The first trailer changed that, giving us a much darker film than the original two films (starring Chris Evans as the Human Torch before his turn as Captain America). In fact, the trailer was chilling and dark in all the right ways.

Trailer #2 continues to intrigues me; the accident still looks horrific, as does the idea that Reed Richards, Ben Grimm, Sue & Johnny Storm become lab rats after their accident. And then… we get a look at Doom! And really great shots of The Thing in action.

Watch it now!

Still dark and foreboding, at least the team decides their powers should be used to help people, making them heroes in this trailer, not just freaks after a trip to another dimension goes horribly wrong.

Fantastic Four rounds out summer with its release this August.

Marvel Double Feature: 1st Official Looks At ANT-MAN’s Yellowjacket and FANT4STIC’s The Thing

Following today’s full reveal of Avengers: Age of Ultron‘s Vision, we also have first looks at The Thing from this summer’s FANT4STIC (Fantasic Four) and the villainous Yellowjacket from Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man.

First, after only seeing him from behind in the trailer and poster for the film, heeeeeeeereeeee’s The Thing! (Courtesy of Empire Magazine)The Thing from FANT4STIC (Fantastic Four)

Jamie Bell plays Ben Grimm and then the Thing; the later using CGI mo-cap technology used to create characters like The Hulk. Bell has quite a bit of mo-cap experience, playing the title character in Steven Spielberg’s CGI film The Adventures of Tintin.

Doesn’t that look better than Michael Chiklis’ rubber rock costume from 2005’s version of The Fantastic Four?

The answer is yes. Yes it does look better, Nick.

Before we move onto our first official look at Ant-Man‘s Yellowjacket, here are two new other stills of FANT4STIC from Empire Magazine.FANT4STIC Reed Richards? Empire Still 90290

These new pics continue the creepy Sci-fi/nearly-Horror vibe established in the trailer. A trailer that has turned one of my least favorite hero teams into a movie I can’t miss!

Now, without further ado, Entertainment Weekly has, in addition to their new Avengers: Age of Ultron cover, the first official look at Ant-Man’s nemesis, Yellowjacket.

Previously we had a drawing of Yellowjacket, but here he is in full live-action/CGI form!Yellowjacket in Ant-Man EW

Notice that he’s full sized, whilst our hero Ant-Man is throwing a very miniature punch.

The suit looks fantastic, similar enough to Ant-Man’s getup, while also brandishing those deadly Doc Ock-esque “arms.”

Marvel’s Ant-Man arrives July 17th, with Fox’s FANT4STIC following in August. I’m sure we’ll see plenty of marketing for both, especially with Avengers: Age of Ultron right around the corner!

Podcast #13: FANT2STIC

Nick and Andrew discuss the trailer for the ‘Fantastic Four’ or… ‘FANT4STIC’ as Fox is calling it. Talk shifts to Disney’s plans for the ‘Indiana Jones’ franchise, whether or not they include Chris Pratt.  And how can they not visit topics relating to other superhero films like ‘Justice League Dark’ and the future of Matt Ryan as John Constantine?

The 1st Trailer For Fox’s Fantastic Four’ Isn’t FANT4STIC, But It Is Intriguing

Of all the Blockbusters this year, the ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot has long been deemed a disaster, from other geeky blog sites not liking the casting choices, to an apparent temper-tantrum by director Josh Trank, and finally a complete lack of photos or footage…

Until today.

Why in the world is Fox's calling it 'FANT4ASTIC?' Did they learn nothing from 'TAK3N?'

Our best look at The Thing.
Our best look at The Thing.

Now we have a teaser-trailer and a poster; our first look at the film what-so-ever. And, though we have yet to see anything fantastic, the trailer’s images and tone are very interesting; very akin to the tone of Fox’s recent X-Men adventures ‘First Class’ and ‘Days of Future Past.’

Maybe a little creepier.

Ok, Definitely creepier!

It may not be ‘The Dark Knight,’ but this version of ‘Fantastic Four’ looks far darker than the overally-kid-friendly originals directed by Tim Story.

FANT4STIC Miles Teller as Reed Richards/Mr. FantasticI’m now cautiously optimistic the film may be good; I do like the almost terrifying images of the crew’s transformation including Miles Teller painfully stretching for the first time as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic to The Thing (Jamie Bell) breaking out of a mass of rocks.

FANT4STIC Exploration

This apparent similarity in tone between Fox’s ‘Fantastic Four’ and their ‘X-Men’ franchise is no mistake, Fox plans on crossing their two Marvel properties into a mini-Fox Cinematic Universe. There’s also a sequel in the works already…

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

Ok. So now the logo is a square? Because there are four sides? To distance new franchise from old?

‘The Fantastic Four’ (or ‘The FANT4STIC’) gets a much needed reboot on August 8th!

P.S. Let us not forget the original ‘Fantastic Four’s legacy: Chris Evans, who graduated from Johnny Storm/The Human Torch to Steve Rogers/Captain America.
